This Year’s Sailing Day
Friday 1st August 2025 |Bristol Harbourside|
Once again, we happily held our annual Sailing Day at All-Aboard Watersports. All-Aboard is charity based at Bristol Harbour. They are passionate about breaking down barriers to ensure that water sports are accessible to everyone. They have a friendly team of instructors, specialist equipment and a variety of accessible boats, which allows for a carefree day out on the water.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for setting sail and once our members arrived, it wasn’t long before the whole fleet of boats were out. Some of our members bobbed about in the harbour on the little dinghies and catamarans whilst some went up the river on the power boats. It was lovely to see whole families taking part with one member’s father noting that, rarely do they find an activity that both his children can participate in and enjoy equally. Being able to use All-Aboard’s hoist meant one participant was able to sail a boat with his son, they were all smiles. Everyone had a lot of fun, including the CPP team with staff member Alex managing to get a terrified Debbie into a dinghy with the promise that she knew how to steer….she didn’t.
Weary sailor’s energy levels were restored with sandwiches and snacks and then it was back onto the water! A few members went out three times, that’s a lot of sailing! We are already looking forward to putting on another sailing day next year. With thanks to All-Aboard Watersports, without whom this event wouldn’t be possible, and to our sponsors Irwin Mitchell and Whirlwind Charitable Trust for their generous donations and support.
