Frame Running
Frame Running is an adapted sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Participants use a frame, which has a saddle, handlebars, brakes and three wheels but no pedals. You use your feet to propel yourself forward and you can go at any pace you feel comfortable.
The person using the frame does not need to weight bear (as long as they can transfer from their wheelchair into the frame with the support of their parent/carer/PA), but they do need to have movement in their legs to move forward. This can be a very small amount of movement, as it does not take much to move in the frame, but this movement does need to be independent.
Frames are suitable for all children, young people, adults and their families, with all additional needs or disabilities. In addition to being enjoyable, it’s also a fantastic way to improve general fitness, and can help build muscle strength and balance.
This activity takes place at Bristol Family Cycling Centre, Old Whitchurch Athletics Track, Bamfield, Bristol, BS14 0XA
We politely ask if members can book in advance by calling Karon on 07784 770122 or emailing [email protected]. This helps us manage numbers and ensures that everyone can access the frames they need.
Thanks to the Starfish Trust for supporting these sessions and to our amazing partners, Access Sport and Momentum Mobility & Rehab.
