Family Fun Day August Day 2023

9th August 2023 | Woodhouse Park Activity Centre

Our annual Family Fun Day took place on the 9th August at Woodhouse Park Activity Centre.  It was a special and memorable day for people of all ages with Cerebral Palsy and their families and carers.

We had many different activities available on the day as planned.  Some highlights included the children’s entertainer who delivered a magic show (which was enjoyed by the adults as much as the children), the axe throwing and archery also proved popular, as well as the musician Music with Maya, who had everyone up dancing.

Fun days out like this truly are precious to our members and their families and carers.  Having a complex disability, and caring for someone, can be isolating and lonely at times.  Our members tell us that they value trying new, fun experiences, and they also appreciate opportunities to socialise with others, who share an understanding of the issues they face, and where their children can play without judgement.

Our members also fed back that they appreciated the accessibility of the event.  It was free of charge, and we provided transport to those who required it.  We also hired the Mobiloo (a fully accessible mobile toilet including hoist and changing table) which meant that everyone could attend if they wished, no matter the complexity of their disability.

All of this was made possible thanks to Slater and Gordon Lawyers and the Barleycorn Trust. We cannot thank them enough for making a difference in the lives of people with Cerebral Palsy and their families.

As part of their support of this event, Slater and Gordon would like to offer our members a free chat with one of their lawyers.  To book a time, please contact Dominic Smith – [email protected]
